If you find yourself in the 6th street district you will surely want to visit The Driskill, Austin’s historic hotel and live music venue. Grab a seat in the gorgeous columned lobby and enjoy the retreat from the bustle of the surrounding entertainment district. Enjoy a beverage at the Driskill bar while listening to some local live music (check website for performance schedule). Visit the 1886 Café & Bakery for a meal or, better yet, skip to the best part: cake. My husband and I were married at The Driskill in 2014 and, instead of freezing the top of our wedding cake to save for our first anniversary, we told ourselves the cake was too delicious to freeze and that we’d go back for fresh cake on our anniversary instead. It was our first good decision as a married couple and our annual visit to The Driskill for cake has become one of our favorite traditions.
